Key Blanks
Key blanks (sometimes spelled keyblank) are keys that have not been cut to a specific bitting. The blank has a specific cross-sectional profile to match the keyway in a corresponding lock cylinder. Key blanks can be stamped with a manufacturer name, end-user logo or with a phrase, the most commonly seen being 'Do not duplicate'. Blanks are typically stocked by locksmiths for duplicating keys. The profile of the key bow, or the large, flat end, often references an individual manufacturer.
The old fashion way of protecting key blanks is brass or nickel plating, which erodes with time and allows you to see the base metal rusty finish. This gives an un-sightly look while carrying them around.

Car key blanks such as TR47 (Toyota), H75 (Ford), B102 (Honda), Y159 (Chrysler) are the fastest sellers. Keys like NA12, NA14 and XL-7, are for mailboxes, which we carry in our inventory of key blanks.
